Hi everyone! I've never done one of these before, so I figure that I might as well have a go. Ask me anything!

How do you type with boxing gloves o NO, I'm better than this.
How, as a G-body acificionado, do you feel toward the suggestion (by me) that somebody should make a GNX-clone Regal two-door combined with an El Camino? Extended cab Buickamino... think about it.

That's fantastic, and it fits with the whole idea of customizing g-bodies. Mix and match parts from different cars. Put a Regal clip on an Elco, then drop in an LT1 and either Standalone ECU or mod current wiring harness. Either way, all I can say is do it. It's not like it hasn't been done before.

What's the worst automotive-related incident you have been involved in (wreck, wrenching injury, etc.)?

No, see, that's the problem. It's been done, but it hasn't been done *right*. To be *right* it needs to include a full-length Elco bed with modified Regal lights, and a full-length Regal cab. This requires making something longer than either with a hybrid frame. The short-bed Regalminos that have been made are nice, but they're not long enough.

Two questions, really.
1) Aren't sweep-style speedometers the best?
2) Can you help me? http://mattlachesky.kinja.com/damnit-kinja-1…

2) try looking for posts titled 'club openings' you might be able to get authorship that way.

Then do it. That is practically a dream come true. I'd recommend seeing if you can get extra-long rear frame rail extensions made up specially for that purpose. As it's BOF, some welding, bondo and bolts, and you have an epic custom truck.

As I am 15, nothing really bad yet. I did flip a riding mower trying to do a j-turn, though. That was more funny than anything else.

Seeing as how of my four cars so far, three have been some kind of two-door common-body truck (Rover, VW Rabbit pickup, Ranchero), I don't see my position as a ute fanaticist eroding any time soon. This probably goes on the list.

GAH
There's an '84 Elky for sale near here for $900 that's been in a front end collision.
And this (about two hours away): http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/4748142984…

Give em 900 for the El Camino and 550 cash for the regal, then get to work! I am the enabler of great ideas. I would have already told you if it were stupid.

Let's be clear, here. Great and stupid are not really exclusive. Also you would have told me? Are you sure about that? Supposing its greatness just exceeds the stupid enough you're obliged to lie to me for the greater good, what then?

I can clear this up for you.
Criteria for a bad idea
-costs way too much
-isn't awesome
-has a high possibility of turning out crappy.
Your idea is none of the above, therefore it is great!

I'll just have to file this away. I think there are enough of both target populations that I can wait a year or so and get similar deals and get some things out of the way. That being said, the want has increased in the knowledge of how doable it is.

Don't forget that it will probably cost less than 5k altogether. It's cheaper and rarer than almost any RWD car on the road.

Not to mention: family car capacity, decent mileage (if it's a 3.8), tows, pickup, Buick interior, and some of the cheapest and most pervasive repair parts known to man.

Amazing tip: the real world efficiency for a 305 chevy and a 3800 in a g-body are the same. I know, my mind was blown too when I learned this, too.

Sort of, but it would preserve the Elky door to wheel-well length or even expand it, without extending the bed behind the wheel well. I think it's an easier patch to bring that front section ahead of the wheel forward (cut right at the post) and mate it with about 9" of the Regal's cab behind the door. You're right on with preserving the Regal's roofline, but the target would be to put the Regal's roofline cutoff about where the Elky's one is. Extended wheelbase, and some portion of the Regal's wheelwell setup would have to be mimed further forward to support the back seat, but it's doable.

That sounds fantastic. Then all you need are longer middle rails, and el-co rear extensions. It would require a fair amount of work, but it is cheap, reliable, practical, and cool.
